Victory by design where is it filmed
Top review. The best car documentary I have seen. A friend of mine introduced me to the "Victory by Design" series, just like he said, they are fantastic! Apart from the professional, informative and witty attitude that the presenter Alain deCadenet did detailing the particular cars history in-depth, their is no music over the test drive the way a real car documentaries should be.
The filming is brilliant, the cars are not just test driven, they are driven hard and the cameraman captures all the cars in their glory. Alain deCadenet is a ex-race-car driver, he is trusted with the most valuable and super rare cars. He will discuss the history of the car company, he will walk you around the car detailing exciting facts and development reason then calmly he will suggest a little drive "shall we" he wont drive it, he red lines it at all gears.

I recognize areas of California where some scenes are shot, but I'm wondering where the majority of the series is filmed. It appears to be either a private estate with its own track or some very secluded roads. Anyone know? It's called Le Mas de Clos. Nye would probably be able to confirm.
Anyone has his email adress? The subject? Does anyone here have any additional information about this? I can't wait to get the DVD extended version. Posted 28 November - Hope they are doing a few more, too. Posted 01 December - I think the Victory by Design dvds are available from most of the big car book sellers, and they are also available from the VbyD web site.
Posted 05 December - I have these DVDs and watch them often, and coincidentally recently emailed VBD through the website, to inquire as to whether any more programs were in the works. The full text of the response was: "Thank you for your inquiry. At this time, we still only have the 6 DVDs'. You would think that, if they had a new Lotus program about to air, they would at least mention it. Thank God for this forum, or I probably would have missed the Speed channel premiere.
I hope there are many more in the works, as they are very entertaining programs. Posted 05 December - Although they are bettwer than nothing, I donm't find yhis series especially valuable, due to the number of errors. Maylam, with Alain de Cadenet, is now working on more programmes, this time on Lotus, Corvette and Ford. Posted 24 January - Speed channel showed the Lotus edition of this program last night. I only caught about 10 minutes but it looked good enough to set the video for the 1am showing Posted 25 January - Originally posted by dretceterini Although they are bettwer than nothing, I donm't find yhis series especially valuable, due to the number of errors Some shows are better than others.
I thought the Porsche one was amazing with great period footage and actual knowledgable people commentating, much better than I'd expected after seeing the Alfa offering. But even the more mediocre episodes offer a selection of gorgeously filmed and recorded cars. Btw: I think they show the filming locations as well as the owners of the cars at the end.

Posted 12 May - Having drawn a blank with another thread, I thought I'd pull up this one I missed the first one in this round of showings, on Maserati, but posts in this thread show that the Ferrari episode for TV left out the PB.
Having spotted Loton Park and the Goodwood hill, as well as Bamford's lake near Alton Towers presumably that's why there are so many sequences shot early in the morning or late in the evening, because of the noise , does anyone who saw last night's on Lotus know where the Cad was driving the 29? Hopefully we'll get the Porsche episode today or tomorrow. Paul M. I sat in that car at the Festival of Speed once.
